Our True Nature

When I go on my walks, or should I say, when I’m dragged-by-our-dogs along the sidewalks, streets, and trails, I’m always changed by nature.

I have learned to listen to the flowers, the birds, the occasional coyote, and the magnificent Santa Monica Mountains. Nature tells me many things, but most recently, nature tells me not to worry about the current state of our world, to let it play itself out and to stay true to myself through the process.

When I see the bright orange California Poppies blooming, I see that they could care less. When I see the Red-Tailed Hawks soaring on the thermals, I see that they could care less. When I sit beneath the massive Oak Trees with their branches reaching up, down and sideways, I see that they could care less.

We as humans are designed to care. We’re designed to want to examine and discern, to reflect on and to dissect situations. Most of us want to make the world better, to right the wrongs and to elevate our collective experience and our consciousness. And that is beautiful! However, sometimes it’s essential to disconnect and return to our inner state of being and to discover what it feels like to surrender to our deepest truth and purest impulses. And, occasionally, it’s important to allow ourselves to shamelessly bloom, to soar with abandon and to reach out in every direction – just because we can.

When we journey into a Sacred Lomi® session, our primary intention is to support the receiver to clear away the burdens and the buzz of the outer world and to re-align with their true nature.  In essence, we DIS-MEMBER what is not serving the individual and support them to RE-MEMBER their authentic self.

One definition of Lomilomi is ‘to break into pieces’. Many people, as they get up off the table have said, “I feel like I’ve been taken apart and put back together”.  The process of dis-membering and re-membering the self is much like tilling our inner garden, stirring up the mud, removing the weeds and making space for what naturally wants to flourish.

We have chosen locations for all of our retreats that are deeply entrenched in nature, which always supports this disintegration and re-integration process like nothing else.

Our North Carolina Advanced Retreat takes place atop a magnificent mountain in Smokey Mountains with lush green blankets of trees extending for miles around. The air is crisp, clean and nourishing, as is the incredibly peaceful beauty of the rolling hills.

Our Advanced Retreat at Wildwood in Guerneville, CA is nestled in the ancient Redwoods, also with lush mountains all around, so close to the Pacific that the cool ocean-mist billows in every morning. Our Hawaii Retreat at Hawaii Island Retreat Center is on the North Shore of the Big Island above a sacred valley seeped in historical relevance.

Although profound experiences happen no matter where we are, being nourished by the beauty and peacefulness of nature allows for an even deeper, life-changing journey… because nature reminds us to bloom, to shine, to soar and to reach out in all directions as the magnificent beings that we already are.

We look forward to sharing the workshop or retreat space with you somewhere soon.
